Nice to meet you! I’m Cassie, and this may sound strange, but I never wanted to be a photographer… I wanted to be a healer. It wasn’t until I learned about the world of boudoir that I realized I could be both! My approach with boudoir photography began sort of backwards… I wasn’t passionate about taking pictures, I was passionate about what they led to. The “Oh my god, that’s ME?!” exclamation, the huge smile, the look of wonder, the feeling of appreciation for the person they were looking at. Boudoir photography is a vessel for such unique and strong empowerment. It allows you to rediscover and embrace all that you are - and what could be more healing than that?
But the more I got to know the world of boudoir, the more I noticed it seemed to mirror society’s representation of folks - white, cisgender, heteronormative, hyper-feminine spaces were everywhere I looked, and I couldn’t stop thinking about how beautiful and powerful boudoir can be… and how every body deserves the opportunity to experience it. Because of this, I started my photography education from scratch learning from resources that prioritized diversity, inclusion, and empathy.
I am a proud graduate of Boudoir University - an educational program designed by and for photographers so they can be better allies and advocates for their clients. This program included courses covering a range of topics such as anti-racism, ableism, 2SLGBTQIA+, mitigating harm, and trauma-informed photography. My top priority is to create an experience where my clients feel safe, respected, and empowered from the pre-shoot consultation to the art reveal itself! The boudoir experience is a vulnerable one that takes a lot of trust, and with that trust comes a responsibility that I take very seriously.
Now for the fun facts! I am currently a Richmonder, but grew up flip-flopping between a NOVA suburb and a tiny cabin in the Pennsylvania woods. My partner and I met camping in Shenandoah National Park, and we’re proud pet-parents to two happy dogs and one grouchy cat (who our lives revolve around… in a good way). A few of my favorite things: David Attenborough documentaries, gardening, hanging at local breweries, Hatteras Island, Bob’s Burgers, cooking dinner with a podcast and glass of wine, camping, and quality time with family and friends. I can’t wait to connect and learn more about you, too!
